Falls First Leaf

Walking through the woods can be a magical thing, it can relax the mind, strengthen the legs, and do wonders for the health, at least that's what Lester was saying to his grandson as they were walking. "Keep your eyes open you can see a lot of wonders boy," the older man was walking with his pride and joy no matter how old he was he was still the five year old boy that kept wanting to go fishing with him years ago. Timmy was twelve now and still loved his grandpa like always has, "Grandpa what kind of wonders are we looking for today?" Lester loved these questions, "Well Timmy, look for animals, look for changes in the leaves, or if a cool breeze comes through, nature has a strange way of telling what it's going through just listen, see, and smell it." Timmy closed his eyes and smelled his surroundings, he got the smell of wildflowers growing, the damp trees, and a pungent smell of wet moss. The grandfather saw the boy and smiled, "Smells good don't it, but open your eyes too don't forget that part." Then he opened his eyes and looked into the trees, "Grandpa look", and the boy pointed into the tree, "Right up there grandpa." Lester turned around and saw what the boy was pointing at it was a yellow leaf submersed in a pond of green leaves, the grandfather was looking at the first turned leaf of the year and his smiled had widened, "Do you know what that means Timmy?" he said as he turned to the boy. Timmy just simply asked, "Does that mean the leaves are all going to change Grandpa, that fall is coming?" The Grandfather was as happy as he could get to him this was as good as it could ever get, "Yeah, Timmy that's what it means." Then the two continued on their walk trying to discover more hidden treasures of the forest together.
